When we talk about the “why” behind Walk4Arth, first and foremost, we're doing it for Arth. But, it’s impossible not to speak about Teenage Cancer Trust.

Long before Arthur was cared for on a Teenage Cancer Trust unit in Bristol, the charity shaped his uncle's life in a very different way. Between 1999 and 2001, as a children’s nurse, Chris had the privilege of working on one of their first units in Birmingham. It was more than just a ward. It was a space designed around young people - somewhere they could feel less like patients and more like teenagers. The specialist equipment, the thoughtful facilities, the dedicated training was funded to meet needs that traditional hospital wards simply weren’t set up to meet.

Back then, it gave Chris an opportunity: to grow as a nurse, to understand the unique emotional and clinical needs of teenagers with cancer, to make a difference and to be part of something special.

Years later, sitting beside Arthur on a Teenage Cancer Trust unit in Bristol, he's seen it from the other side and experienced first hand what that investment truly means to the family. The environment matters. The expertise matters. The small details - space for families, age-appropriate surroundings, specialist staff who understand teenagers - matter more than you can ever imagine when it’s a member of your family. The charity doesn’t just fund buildings, equipment and training. It funds dignity, understanding, community and hope during unimaginably difficult times.

That’s why supporting Teenage Cancer Trust through Walk4Arth feels so important to Chris. Every donation, however big or small, genuinely makes a difference to young people and their families when they need it most.

Thank you for helping us give back to a charity that has given so much — to Chris as a nurse, and to us as a family.
